Sego for Amazon privacy

Last updated September 25, 2026

Sego for Amazon is a Chrome extension. It adds the items from your Amazon orders to your purchases in Sego. This page tells you what the extension reads, what it sends, and what Sego keeps.

What the extension reads

What the extension sends to Sego

For each new or changed order, the extension sends a reduced copy of the order details page to Sego. Before it sends the page, the extension removes:

The copy keeps the order number, order date, item names, prices, quantities, delivery status, refunds, the charges to your card, product links, and product photo links.

How Sego reads the page

Sego sends the reduced page to OpenAI. An OpenAI model finds the order details in the page and returns them as structured data. Sego asks OpenAI not to store the request. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models. Sego then keeps only the values that the page shows.

What Sego keeps

DataWhy
Order number, date, items, prices, quantities, refunds, and chargesTo show what you bought and to match the order to your bank transactions
Copies of product photosTo show a picture of each item. Sego copies the photo from Amazon's image server to its own storage. Sego makes the photo smaller and encrypts it.
A fingerprint of each page it read, and the timeTo not read the same page twice
A fingerprint of the extension's connection tokenTo check that requests come from a browser you connected

Sego does not keep the page itself. The members of your Sego household can see the purchases, as they can see the household's bank transactions.

What stays in your browser

The extension stores its connection token, your household name, the last sync status, and a list of order numbers with the date it read each one. This data stays in Chrome's extension storage on your computer.

What Sego does not do

Sego's use of this data follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
